Imaging nociceptor-mast cell interactions during skin inflammation
Conférence du Dr Nicolas Gaudenzio, UDEAR Toulouse
The main focus of the Immcetion Lab (www.immception.com) is to study how immune and peripheral nervous systems interact to regulate homeostasis, with a primary focus on the skin. Allergic skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis, are clinically characterized by severe itching and type 2 immunity-associated hypersensitivity to widely-distributed allergens, including those derived from house dust mites (HDMs). Combining unique mouse models, transcriptomic and intravital imaging approaches, they recently found that subtypes of nociceptive sensory neurons and juxtaposed mast cells form functional tissue-resident ‘sensory systems’ that detect domestic allergens in the skin and initiate type 2 immunity-associated allergic skin disease.
